Despite coming from a Division III school in a northern state (Heidelberg College, OH), Allen Smith is poised to make a major impact for the Parasox this season. The organizational scouts like his toolsy, athletic makeup (Smith was also a member of the cross-country team at Heidelberg) and fierce, competitive spirit. Sabermatricians value his ability to get on-base and point to his many doubles that indicate more power in the future. If there's any worry about Smith, it's his defense since he tends to make easy catches look difficult and has an arm-slot more suited to frisbees than softballs. The P'sox, though, point out that Smith's quickness and range will allow him to adapt quickly to the level of competition in the Intramurals. Smith hails from Berea, OH and his favorite player growing up was Candy Maldonado (who ground into the first double-play Smith ever saw at Municipal Stadium).

Looks like Grady won't have as many ladies after this season proves Smith is the hottest guy to swing a bat.
